A tempest, sudden and merciless, assaulted Serenade without a warning, tearing at her sails and casting massive waves over her bow. John fought valiantly against the helm, but to no avail. The storm overwhelmed them, swallowing the Serenade whole, and by some cruel twist of fate, washed the family ashore on a deserted island.
