Initially, it was hardly perceptible - a friend's unusually stiff movement, a family member's skin taking on a slight shade of green under certain lights, or an occasional lapse in personality that seemed out of character. However, it wasn't until my closest friend, Marcus, stopped showing any interest in our weekly hiking excursions—which he once claimed were the highlights of his weeks—that a nagging suspicion began to take root in my mind.
